The society conducted shizensou at Setonaikai Inner Sea in Tamano city (Okayama Prefecture).
May 12
The society celebrated the tenth anniversary with the symposium entitled "Rediscovering Tagol and Gandhi" at Sophia University with 4 panelists.
June 14
The society conducted shizensou in Hagi city, Yamaguchi Prefecture.
June 23
The society conducted shizensou in Mt. Kazusa-kameyama.
July 27
Shizensou took place in the Forest of Rebirth (Nakaizu) owned by the society.

2002

May 12
Shizensou was conducted at Hakata Bay.
May 18
The society organized the symposium entitled "The Japanese and the Remains of the Dead" in Tokyo. Participants included Professor Nakamura (Osaka University), Professor Shimazono (Tokyo University), and others.
August 11
The society conducted shizensou in the Forest of Rebirth in Kofu.
September 10
The society became a non-profit organization.
October 12
The society conducted shizensou in the Forest of Rebirth in Chichibu.

2003

June 28
Professor Ikeuchi delivered a talk entitled "My Pilgrimage in Shikoku" during the annual meeting of the society.
September 1
PThe society published the fiftieth issue of their newsletter, Rebirth.
September 15
The society organized the symposium entitled "The End-of-Life Choices: Death with Dignity and Shizensou" in Tokyo with 6 panelists.
October 5-6
Fifty GFPS members took a trip to the Forest of Rebirth in Sugadaira.
November 23
Shizensou was conducted in Sugadaira.

2004

April 16
The first collective shizensou ceremony took place at Sendai Bay.
April 24
The twelfth Forest of Rebirth was established in Takihara.
June 27
Professor Yoro Takeshi delivered the lecture entitled "My Perspectives on Death" at the GFPS' 2004 annual meeting.
September 6
Mr. Komoda became the new vice president of the society.
A forest in Omachi in Nagano Prefecture was donated to the society.
November 13
The society organized the symposium entitled "Forests of Rebirth and Sacred Grove of a Village Shrine: Let's Protect Forests in Japan" in Yokohama with 5 panelists.

2005

February 22
The society celebrated its 15th anniversary with the symposium in Tokyo entitled "From deathbed to burial-canon of modern burial" with 6 panelists.
April 28
The society petitioned the town of Naganuma (Hokkaido) that the town gives up its move to establish the Naganuma Ordinance for Promoting Cleaner Environment. The society maintains that the Ordinance aims to prohibit the scattering of ashes in Naganuma and therefore is against Japan's constitution, the laws concerning graves and burial, and the Local Autonomy Law.
May 14
Fifty-one GFPS members participated in a trip to visit a Forest of Rebirth in Shinanoji.
May 24
Mayor of Naganuma replied to our petition.
May 29
The 1000th shizensou was conducted at Sendai Bay in Miyagi Prefecture.
July 2
Professor Sakai Usaku delivered the talk entitled "Bones and Folklore" at the society's 2005 annual meeting.
July 31
A branch office was established in Kumamoto Prefecture.
August 10
The society submitted a letter of inquiry to the Ministry of Welfare and Labor. Given the development of anti-scattering ordinance in the town of Naganuma, the society inquired into the official definition of interring cremains.
September 3
The society organized a mock-shizensou at Kannonzaki, Tokyo Bay and fifty members participated.
September 5
The Ministry of Welfare and Labor replied to our inquiry. The society sent a second letter of inquiry.
September 12-17
The society organized a trip to the Silk Road.
September 25
Professor Nakamura Ikuo delivered the lecture entitled "Bones and Religion" as the 2nd of the Lecture Series on Bones.
October 27
The society organized the symposium entitled "Burial Law and Shizensou".

2006

February 25
The society organized a demonstration meeting on "Funerals in Future and Shizensou" and 100 people took part in it.
April 22
Professor Koike Hisako delivered the lecture entitled "Bones and Art" as the 3rd of the Lecture Series on Bones.
April 24
Korea-Japan exchange meeting was held at Chuo University in Seoul and 31members took part in it.
October 21
Professor Suzuki Takao delivered the lecture entitled "Bones and Health" as the 4th of the Lecture Series on Bones.

2007

January 20
Professor Komoda Tetsu, our vice president delivered the lecture entitled "Bones and Law" as the 5th of the Lecture Series on Bones.
April 21
The society organized a casual discussion meeting at a Chinese restaurant with Prof. Yamaori Tetsuo and 63 members joined it.
May 12
The society organized a mock-shizensou at Suruga Bay, near Mt. Fuji and 46 members participated.

2008

May 9 & 10
The society organized a tour to the Forest of Rebirth in Nagano and 30 members took part in it.
October 18 through February 14, 2009
Prof. Obi Shinnya delivered five Lecture Series on "Universe and Man".
October 22
The society organized a mock-Shizensou at Sendai Bay and 49 members participated.

May 23
The society celebrated the 20th anniversary with the symposium entitled "A thousand winds and Shizensou" with 5 panelists in Tokyo and 300 people attended.

2010

January 23rd
The society celebrated the 20th anniversary with the symposium, first time in Kyoto entitled "Talk on Shizensou" with 4 panelists and 180 people attended.
